amerton pottery

Amerton Pottery established in 1994

How it all began...

My name is Jamie Gauge, I came to Staffordshire in late 1968.

I began studying Art successfully at school and then at College. Alongside my studies I worked as a volunteer at the Gladstone Pottery Museum, demonstrating the art of throwing a Pot on the Potter's Wheel.

In 1985 I set up my first pottery on the Isle of Wight, I returned to Staffordshire in 1987 to work for one of my suppliers Potterycrafts Ltd as a Sales & Marketing Manager.

In 1992, having moved locally to Stone, I discovered Amerton for the first time and, by 1994 I decided it was time to leave Potterycrafts Ltd to open up Amerton Pottery.

Originally Amerton Pottery was a small open studio in the Craft Centre, but in 2007 Amerton Pottery moved to the main courtyard where we now have a Workshop and Gallery Area with a fun Paint a Pot Studio.
